A Must-Play Arnold Palmer Signature Course
When you stand on the first tee from the back tee position, you’ll know you’re in for a battle. The starting hole measures a solid 456 yards and typically the wind works from left to right. If you try to hit a draw into that left to right breeze and overwork it, you’ll be out of bounds and teeing up again. There’s nothing worse that going out of bounds on the first hole… nothing.
It’s difficult to hit fairways you can’t see and a lot of the tee shots don’t offer a big wide fairway views. “Putt for show and drive for dough…” yeah yeah yeah… we’ve heard that cliché a million times, but let’s face it; you can’t consistently make pars from the rough. You have to hit fairways and when you’re standing on many of the tees at The Majors Golf Club, you don’t have a lot of fairway to look at.
Here’s a few quick tips from The Majors Golf Club Head Professional, Brian Nemschick, “Be aware of the out of bounds and guard against that mistake, hit a three iron or hybrid from the 14th tee and don’t hit it fat on #15. Believe it or not, if you can get these three things done, you can shave five to ten shots from your score. Like any golf course, there are plenty of place to drop shots, but I see more rounds go the wrong way because of these mistakes.”
In 1999 this jewel was born. It combines some of the old classic golf course traits which were invented by legendary architects like McAllister and Ross and innovative features like our par three #15 island green.
The fairways offer perfect lies and the greens roll true. On average the greens roll around nine on the Stemp Meter and for tournaments we speed them up to around 10 ½.
